How can we help your child?

We are Mark and Mandy, plus a great team of teachers who prepare children for selective entrance exams for Grammar Schools and Independent Schools plus we now offer GCSE Maths and English.

We are specialists in our field and over 1000 children have reached the required standard for their chosen school with our support.

We have tutored children for our local selective school, Heckmondwike Grammar School, for over twelve years and have gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience.

We have produced our own bespoke materials designed to help students prepare for their entrance test.

The sessions and structured, fast paced and stretch the most able of students.

Our materials cover maths, English, and patterns (non-verbal reasoning) plus Verbal Reasoning 

We are very proud that 146 of our students gained a place at their chosen school this year.

We offer ONLINE sessions throughout the week.

We can also offer tuition and support to all children of primary school age through our partners, Graham and Sarah.

GCSE LANAGAGE

Our GCSE Language course is tailored toward Year 10 and Year 11 (ages 14-16) for the AQA examination board, as this is the most widely used exam board in the UK for English Language. Our GCSE English language course will enable students to develop a deeper understanding of language and be able to apply their skills in a variety of contexts, including:

  • Reading: students will learn how to read critically and analytically, and how to identify the different elements of a text, such as the plot, characters, setting, and theme.
  • Writing: students will learn how to write effectively in a variety of genres, such as essays, stories, and poems. They will also learn how to confidently utilise language devices and edit and proofread their work.
  • Speaking and Listening: students will learn how to communicate effectively in a variety of situations, such as participating in discussions.

In addition to these core topics, the course also covers a range of other skills, such as vocabulary development; grammar, spelling and punctuation; and literary analysis.

Each block of our GCSE language course will focus on specific questions within Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the GCSE language specification. Throughout the course students will be assessed and given written feedback to improve their confidence and capability.

The materials are designed to be used during your online Zoom sessions.
